Boek
De bibliotheek van het FOMU bestaat uit meer dan 30.000 titels. De collectie kreeg voor het eerst vorm met de verwerving van de bibliotheek van de Association Belge de Photographie en de bibliotheek van de firma Agfa-Gevaert. Ze bevat boeken van de (inter)nationale fotografische canon met de nadruk op West-Europese en Belgische fotografen. Naast fotoboeken vind je er ook naslagwerken, fotoromans, tijdschriften, merken- en fotografendocumentatie, veilingcatalogi en archieven. De collectie is de grootste en meest gespecialiseerde van het Nederlandse taalgebied en wordt intensief gebruikt door onderzoekers uit verschillende disciplines .
De bibliotheek wordt opgedeeld in drie deelcollecties. De Studiecollectie: publicaties, tijdschriften en documentatie met informatie vanaf de 17de eeuw (vroege voorlopers van de fotografie) tot nu, over uiteenlopende onderwerpen binnen de fotografie (technieken, stijlen, stromingen, apparatuur, geschiedenis, fotografiehandboeken). De Museumcollectie: boeken van de (inter)nationale fotografische canon van ca. 1950 tot het heden, met nadruk op Belgische en West-Europese fotografen. Het zijn publicaties van een bepaalde kunstenaar of artistieke bewegingen (ontwerp, thema, techniek). Ook tijdschriften met een grote historische of fotografische waarde maken deel uit van de museumcollectie. De Kostbare Werken: waardevolle, fragiele en unieke publicaties met een hoge erfgoedwaarde, hoofzakelijk publicaties van voor 1950.
