Challenging Perspectives on Visual Culture

After their successful collaboration on the museum’s rebranding, FOMU and creative agency Mutant™ once again join forces for FOMUTATIONS, an experimental format of in depht talks by internationally renowned image makers. They challenge existing perspectives on visual culture and spark debate—an innovative format that encourages dialogue and new ways of seeing.

More and more, the definition of visual reality seems to be becoming fluid. The boundary between fact and fiction is fading, subcultures shape  their own visual codes , and manipulated images no longer merely reflect the world—they shape our reality. FOMUTATIONS invites you to look beyond the surface:  Who determines what we see?  How do social media, art, fashion, advertising, and documentary shape  our perception? And how can we influence perception ourselves?

Four times a year, we welcome leading national and international speakers to the FOMU foyer. They dissect contemporary visual culture through their practice and offer insights into how they spark imagination within this complex landscape. These are not monologues, but visual presentations— questions are sparked, discussions catch fire. Thoughts will mutate. And perspectives will shift.
