LABO analogue photography and time – secondary education

  • Fee activity € 136
  • Maximum amount of participants 15
  • Duration 2h
  • Location FOMU

During this LABO you will learn the basic principles of analogue photography in the darkroom. Photos from the FOMU collection form the starting point to reflect on time and perception, and how photography can make the passing of time visible, for example through double exposure. During this workshop you tell a story with images that you develop and edit yourself.

Artist Katja Mater created an exhibition with photographs from the FOMU collection. In it, photography, film, drawing, performance and installation come together, to make us look differently at the things around us. Mater shows how cameras capture the world differently from how we percieve it with our eyes. The exhibition forms the starting point for a fascinating workshop on image awareness, time, perception and observation.

In this exhibition you can also admire the Keizerpanorama (1905), an important masterpiece from the museum’s collection! Around this large circular wooden cabinet, you can look at a series of old stereo photos with up to twenty-five people at the same time. Thanks to the special viewers, these images appear to be in 3D.
